IF YOU THINK you've seen the last of the snow, think again. ``The Shipping News'' is the most snow-infested movie since ``Doctor Zhivago''. Like ``Zhivago,'' it is based on a highly respected novel, E. Annie Proulx's Pulitzer Prize-winning group of character studies that brings a Newfoundland seaside village to life.
This film has had its critics. Yes, it is slow (if you want explosions) and, yes, it is dark (if you want happy hour). But there is no shame in the fact that we put it in our Top 10 list for 2001.
