THE Prince of Wales braved blustery weather on the Brecon Beacons yesterday to visit a riding centre hit hard by the foot-and-mouth crisis.
Charles, who was without the necessary pair of wellington boots, tramped cautiously through muddy fields to meet pony trekkers at the Cantref Riding Centre in Brecon, mid Wales.
With his brogues becoming increasingly dirty, the Prince struggled to stay on his feet against the fierce winds.
"I'm not dressed for this, " he told the trekkers, pointing to his shoes.
Christine Taylor, 35, who helps out with the trekking, said: "He said he didn't come kitted out.
