NEW ORLEANS _ People stop and stare because they do not forget the face of scandal. So, as life tries to push on through St. Louis Street in the French Quarter, a crowd gathers in front of the wooden structure with the No. 720 nailed to a white pillar.
Sometimes she greets them, running out like she is now, in a fuzzy pink sweater to wave fingery hellos. She asks them to come by at night, to listen to her sing beautiful and seductive melodies in the candlelight by the piano.
