PROJECT OVERVIEW:

A Peruvian joint venture that teams-up CEMENTOS LIMA, CEMENTO ANDINO and TECNOLOGIA INDUSTRIA is currently gearing-up to build a new hydropower plant in the country. Construction plans under consideration call for building a power station with an installed generating capacity of 270 Mw.

The new facility, dubbed El Platanal, is to be sited on the Canete River south of Lima. In so doing, the project is expected to provide irrigation for about 27,000 hectares (ha) of farmland.
