Fort Lauderdale may no longer be the spring break capital of America as depicted in the 1960 film classic "Where the Boys Are," but it is an appealing winter and spring destination that's pulling out the stops in hopes of drawing the 7 million visitors it usually gets each year.
Those stops include some bargain hotel rates. Think: where the buys are. Deals are easy to find at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau Web site, www.sunny.org/deals. When I checked availability for a week in February, there were plenty of properties that popped up for less than $100 a night.
