DETROIT _ Back in the days of flower power, lots of baby boomers decked out their dorm rooms and college apartments with houseplants.
Philodendrons climbed around windows, jade plants and peperomias mingled on orange crate shelving and spider plants dangled their babies from hangers _ macrame, naturally.
Julia Janiak was among those who embraced houseplants, filling her college room with greenery.
She realized how many others had similar houseplant memories when the nursery where she works displayed a bench loaded with the 1970s plant hit parade _ dracaenas, crotons, cacti and succulents.
