The handwriting is on the wall - or more accurately, off the wall - for Camillus town employees.

So are cartoons, jokes, pictures, calendars and other materials that someone might deem offensive.

The town board, by a 7-0 vote, amended the employee handbook Jan. 22 to order workers to get written permission from the town board "or its designee" before they post anything on town buildings, vehicles or equipment.

By "designee," the board means department heads, such as Police Chief Lloyd Perkins, Highway Superintendent Mark Pigula and Town Clerk Marilyn Smith, town attorney Dirk Oudemool said.
