BRAHMIN: GETTING AGGRESSIVE

NEW YORK -- Brahmin Leather Works, a seven-year-old New England leather goods manufacturer, aims to capture a larger share of the handbag market with an expanded product line and what it considers unusual color combinations.

Bill and Joan Martin, the husband and wife team who started Brahmin, are aggressively going after new accounts in 1990. "We've seen our sales double over the last few years and we've still only begun to scratch the surface," said Bill Martin, who oversees manufacturing and operations for the firm.

He said the firm's volume hit $3 million in 1989. He projected a 40 percent increase in 1990.
