JERUSALEM _ The demons of Jaffa Road haunt Musa Awad.

Jaffa, perhaps the most dangerous street in Israel, has been the scene of seven terrorist attacks in five months, including a devastating bombing last Sunday. After every attack, Israelis scramble to replace shattered shop windows, repair damage and move on as quickly as possible.

But if Awad is any indication, the violence has bruised the nation's psyche in ways that may be far harder to repair than broken windows. Even as glaziers and construction workers patch up after each bombing, Israel seems to suffer what one magazine labeled a national anxiety attack.
