Hightec, Inc. (Pink Sheets:HTEH) of Las Vegas, Nevada, has selected a site approximately 10 miles south of Las Vegas for construction of the first basalt fiber rebar manufacturing plant in the world.
The plant will cost approximately $5 million and will take approximately one year to construct. The company plans to market basalt fiber rebar as a replacement for stainless steel rebar and polycoated steel rebar. It is approximately three times stronger than steel, one third the weight, and is non-corrosive and highly resistant to chemical attack.
