As dawn broke on August 26, 1952, in the small Southern town of Rock Hill, South Carolina, the day promised to be a hot one in more ways than just the temperature. The Rock Hill Chiefs, independent member of the Class B Tri-State League (North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee) were about to play a small but significant role in a much larger revolution that was sweeping the nation, a revolution that would change forever race relations throughout America.
