Charlie Brown's sustained depression era, fueled by record un-enjoyment, continues Thursday with another half-hour of dashed expectations.

He's under a new administration, though. ABC has wrested the "Peanuts" franchise from CBS and hopes to produce at least one original special a year besides repeating the golden oldies. "A Charlie Brown Valentine" is the first newcomer since 1992's "It's Christmas Time Again, Charlie Brown." It's also the first such work without direct input from storied "Peanuts" creator Charles M. Schulz, who died on Feb. 12, 2000.
