President Mohammad Khatami called on 29 January for the creation of a special fund to support the Intifada. Khatami demanded, according to IRNA, "a resolute condemnation of the Zionist regime's inhuman acts by the international community and support for the establishment of a fund to collect aid for the Palestinian Intifada."
