Feb. 4--Edward J. Shultz has been named director of public relations of Sovereign Bancorp Inc., Wyomissing.
In his new position, Shultz will oversee public and media relations, community relations, internal communications, emergency communications and management issues for the bank's mid-Atlantic and New England regions.
A resident of West Lawn, Shultz formerly served as manager of communications for GPU Energy/First Energy and served as assistant manager of news for Reading Eagle Company.
Shultz is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Communications School.
