Feb. 6--Acting Governor Jane Swift will fire two renegade Turnpike board members today, and replace them with former State Street Global Advisers chief executive Nicholas Lopardo and former prosecutor John M. Moscardelli, an administration official confirmed last night.
The two men will be named as part-time, $25,000-a-year members of the board of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, which oversees the $14.5 billion Big Dig. Swift confirmed this week that she will also appoint state Highway Commissioner Matthew J. Amorello to the $160,000 chairmanship.
