Environmental Groups Bash Bush's Energy Budget Blueprint As Bullish For Industry

Environmental groups claimed Tuesday that President Bush's fiscal 2003 budget had so many positive elements for the oil and gas industry it was like an "all-you-can-eat buffet for Big Energy."

Despite huge hikes in funding for defense and security programs, the budget, unveiled Monday, did make room for programs that are key to encouraging oil and gas production. Environmental groups charged that the administration is using homeland security as an excuse to slash environmental programs that it was against since it took office.
