Geneva knew it could beat Plainfield, it just hadn't been proven until Tuesday.
In fact no Suburban Prairie Red team had proven it could beat Plainfield in the Wildcats' gym since December 1999.
Like prospectors mining for gold, the Vikings invested three years chipping away at the rock. For the last two years the Vikings had been close to finding the vein and the riches it contained. Tuesday, Geneva hit the motherlode.
"I think we always had confidence we could win," Vikings point guard Caroline Byrnes said. "It just seemed like every time, something always went wrong, until this game."
