GRAHAM HENRY'S initial appointment was something of a surprise because he was relatively unheard of in this part of the world.
He was not a former All Black and we did not know much about his coaching or knowledge of Wales and Welsh rugby.
We knew that his coaching record was as good as any in New Zealand. In typical New Zealand Rugby Football Union council style, they backed development plans by letting him work with their top players at Auckland.
