SALT LAKE CITY _ Bode Miller remembers the wilderness of his New Hampshire boyhood, the whispers of the leaves high in the treetops of the woods he roamed in solitude.
He needs, even now, to give the merest hint of permission and his mind drifts to the side of the stream where water caressed the stones and a very young boy thought it enough each day to listen to the conversation of the elements.
