THE NHS has finally agreed to pay compensation to mental patients who were used as guinea pigs and given LSD.
Yet the amounts to be paid out are much smaller than similar victims have received in the United States.
The patients were given the hallucinogenic drug in British hospitals between the fifties and seventies. At that time it was believed that LSD could help in their treatment.
