The Jordanian government's recent ban on selling tobacco to underage youths and their efforts to implement existing laws that criminalize smoking in public areas is a sign that the nation is becoming increasingly conscious of the health and social ills of tobacco. However, experts believe that as long as the issue of the health risks of nargila remains unresolved, a major gap in efforts to protect and inform the public will continue to exist.
