ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australia's health insurance industry has urged the Australian Government to approve applications for higher insurance premiums. Australian Health Insurance Association CEO, Russell Schneider, said increases such as the 13.08 per cent requested by Medibank Private, were reasonable considering the significant rise in claims and the number of people in the health system. Besides from AXA Health, which applied for an increase of less than two per cent, none of the other six major Australian health insurance companies have disclosed the amount for which they have applied.
