In 2001, Uruguay exported US$6.3mil of premium wines, of which US$324,000 was to the United States, the fourth ,eading market after Brazil (to which US$3.2mil was sold), the United Kingdom (US$500,000) and Belgium (US$400,000). The winery Establecimiento Juanico was the leading premium wine exporter to the United States with sales of US$98,000. This winery created the brand Vinson Richards especially for the American market. The second leading premium wine exporter to the United States is Bodegas Castillo Viejo, which is the leading wine exporter overall in Uruguay.
