They did not give up. But the Ducks finally did have to give in.
Texas Tech, the ninth-ranked college women's basketball team in the nation, withstood a hostile McArthur Court crowd of 4,206, a furious finish by Oregon and a penchant for missing free throws to snag a 72-65 victory on Monday night.
"I'm not sure the rankings mean all that much," high-octane Oregon guard Shaquala Williams said, "but if that's the ninth-best team in the country, then I think we're on our way to where we want to be."
