His entire life cycled before him.
He replayed trivial arguments. Then he recalled his many blessings.
He was humbled as he prayed.
In that moment, with the sun beaming upon him on a flat valley in Saudia Arabia, Kareem Irfan made peace with God and vowed to live life anew when he returned to Naperville.
At 36, he had completed hajj - an early pilgrimage from the vantage point of American Muslims.
Usually the journey is seen as a final high point of life, traveled by the middle-aged.
