Oregon's Fish and Wildlife Commission got a double dose of bad news about diseased critters during a recent meeting in Portland.
First came news that tuberculosis had been confirmed in an elk from a privately owned herd on a ranch near Kimberly in northeastern Oregon. Then ODFW biologists reported spores from the parasite that causes "whirling disease" in fish had been discovered at a private hatchery on Clear Creek, a tributary of the Clackamas River.
