WALDPORT - The death of a little boy whose body was found floating in an arm of Alsea Bay is being investigated as a homicide, but there's no certainty that somebody killed him, the Lincoln County district attorney said Friday.
"We just don't know," District Attorney Bernice Barnett said. "It's really awful."
Given the circumstances, Barnett said, it's prudent to proceed as if the death were a homicide. That's why the case is now a subject of intense investigation by the Lincoln County Major Crime Team, which includes investigators from law enforcement agencies throughout the county.
