Article: Hannah's courage helped her die with dignity; Carol Grant tells how her daughter, Hannah, 13, took the brave decision to stop her gruelling cancer treatment when she knew it meant she would die. Interview Ian Leonard.(Features)

HANNAH was born on 30 May 1988. Roy, my husband, and I had wanted a child for a while but it never seemed to be the right time. So we were overjoyed when she arrived.

She was a gorgeous little girl.

Although she was only small she was a real tomboy and very independent, even from an early age.

I remember we had to have locks fitted to all the windows - it wasn't to keep burglars out but to keep Hannah in!

Another time, she managed to get hold of a pair of scissors and cut off her lovely, long hair.

I went mad, but she always seemed to have a way of putting things into perspective.
