For Marvin Lewis, the rumors and assumptions finally ended Monday. Formally and officially, Lewis found a home as defensive coordinator and assistant head coach of the Washington Redskins.
Lewis, 43, one of the brains behind the Baltimore Ravens' improbable run to a Super Bowl championship a year ago, signed a three-year deal that, with incentives, could pay him about $1.2 million this season. He will be the highest paid assistant coach in the NFL.
That's a salary comparable to what some NFL head coaches make and is at least twice what the average assistant is thought to make.
