- Fang-Yi Cheng of Palatine, a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has been given a Mothers Association Book Award for earning a 4.0 grade-point average during the fall semester, while taking at least 14 hours of credit.
The association honored the winners at a UI Moms Weekend banquet April 16, 2001 on campus and is donating $15 to each high school library for the purchase of a book in the student's name.
- Amy Scott, daughter of Robert and Nancy Scott of Palatine, received a scholarship from the Delta Gamma Foundation. She is majoring in marketing at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
