ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Property Council of Australia released its official vacancy figures on 14 February 2002. According to the figures, occupied office space in Australia fell by 140,700 square metres (sq m), or 0.8%, in the 12 months to 31 December 2001. Australian office markets traditionally grow about 1.3% a year. The majority of the vacancies occurred in non-central business districts of Australia where vacancies rose almost two percentage points to 8.2%.
