Forty three years ago, Texan Waylon Jennings fortunately missed a plane flight, which tragically killed his pal Buddy Holly and two other musical contemporaries.
It was a dark moment in Waylon's life and, for a time, he was demoralised by the loss of musical mentor Holly and Ritchie Valens and J. P. Richardson (the Big Bopper). But he slowly recovered his act and got back on the road to embark on a solo career which was to make him one of country music's most celebrated performers.
