SKY LARK: MORE THAN A LARK
NEW YORK -- Sky Lark, a newcomer to the hair accessories market, had an unusually quick start-up, in spite of the fact the owners had no previous experience in the accessories market, or even fashion, for that matter.
The mother-daughter team, Barbara Marcus and Nancy Horne, both wanted a career change. Horne had worked in TV production, and Marcus, was in real estate. They started buying closeout hair accessories and selling them at fairs. "We chose hair accessories frankly because they were light and easy to carry," said Horne. Sales were good enough that Marcus decided to try her hand at designing a line of hair accessories.
