Article: Some notion: Let's all read Kesey.(Arts & Literature)

Byline: MATT COOPER The Register-Guard

IT'S AN IDEA that Ken Kesey himself might have loved: an entire community reading the same book at the same time, then getting together to hash it out.

That idea was introduced Monday to the Eugene-Springfield community, and the book is formidable: the late author's "Sometimes a Great Notion," a 628-page tome that has been called a landmark novel of the Northwest.

The project is ``Readin' in the Rain,'' an initiative that encourages the community to read "Notion" by April 1, when the first of two screenings of the movie will be held at the McDonald Theatre downtown.
