Chronic Secretory Otitis Media
Secretory otitis media may also be chronic, a condition most often found in children and frequently due to the presence of large amounts of adenoidal tissue. Sometimes it occurs in adults who have permanent or recurrent blockage of the Eustachian tube, or recurrent changes in the consistency of the liquid that is produced in the middle ear, or both.
The condition is usually treated with antihistamines and nasal decongestants. If these medications are ineffective, and the adenoids are enlarged, the best course is usually surgical ...
