MAY CO. TO CONSOLIDATE SIBLEY'S INTO KAUFMANN'S
NEW YORK -- The May Department Stores Co. is consolidating its Sibley's division in Rochester, N.Y., into the Kaufmann's division in Pittsburgh, effective next month.
May based in St. Louis, also said that close to $100 million will be spent on the combined chain for new stores, remodeling and other capital projects for 1989 to 1993.
The combined division will have a total volume of more than $700 million and 24 stores. It will operate under the Kaufmann's name and will be run by Kaufmann's existing management team of William T. Tobin, president and chief executive officer, and Gerald A. Sampson, ...
