First published in 1737SO, just in case any voter in the Republic - or anywhere else - should be in any doubt about it, Bertie Ahern has said it again: there will be no place in an Irish government for Sinn Fein so long as the IRA exists.
Naturally, unionists will once again seize on the issue to howl about Sinn Fein being in government in Northern Ireland - with Mr Ahern's full backing.
It is simply far too obvious and juicy an opportunity for point-scoring for any unionist politician to be able to ignore.
