Male Pattern Baldness
Male pattern baldness may begin anytime after the mid-teens. First the hairline recedes at the temples, followed by some thinning on the top, with the crown becoming completely bald first. All the while the hairline between the temples has been gradually receding, and finally the receding hairlines meet, leaving a bald pate with a fringe around the sides and back.
Three factors are involved in male baldness: heredity, androgen hormones, and aging. Where there is a family pattern of baldness in the father or male members of the mother's family, there is a good chance of inheriting the tendency. Although the mechanism is not clearly ...
