Mayekawa Manufacturing Company recently announced it has developed an air conditioner which utilizes an ammonia-based refrigerant. The company said it plans to begin production and marketing of the new refrigerant technology later this year.
Mayekawa said its new ammonia A/C is suitable for stores and buildings, and features a 10-horsepower cooling capacity. The company said its unit will be the first piece of equipment in its class to not use a chlorofluorocarbon (CFC)-based coolant.
