If you're waiting for a light at the Golf and Higgins roads, look over to Vogelei Park at the northeast corner of the intersection. It isn't much more than a century-old gray brick house, a rustic barn and a soccer-come-softball field.
But some members of the Hoffman Estates Park District have an ambitious, $2.9 million plan in mind for this 10-acre grassy patch nestled between the Nissan and Kia Woodfield car dealerships and a sprawl of houses along Higgins Road.
