The U.S. Army National Guard has been using GIS in one form or anther for more than 15 years. In the last three years, however, GIS activity has been gaining momentum with the creation of a stronger, more centrally managed program at the National Guard Bureau, the central headquarters responsible for funding and administering programs for Army National Guard units.
The National Guard Bureau recently implemented a GIS data repository that uses ESRI Inc.'s ArcIMS (Internet Map Server) product.
