The name Rezidor may have been created to echo such words as "residence," "door" and "d'or," meaning golden in French. Yet the company's full name, Rezidor SAS, also symbolizes the rapid growth that the former SAS International Hotels (SIH) has undergone.

The Brussels-based company changed its name to Rezidor SAS Hospitality on Oct. 1. Previously, the hotel subsidiary of Scandinavian Airlines System was best known by the name of its biggest--and until November 2000, only--hotel chain, Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts.
