Article: Orange juice: pure or adulterated? (Bodine Inc.)

A federal grand jury charged that fresh oranges were not the only ingredient in "pure" orange juice produced from 1978 through 1984 by Bodine, Inc. - once the largest orange juice manufacturer in the Midwest. Last July, the grand jury returned a 19-count indictment against Edward M. Boden Sr., Edward M. Boden Jr., and Roger Walsh Jr., charging the former owners of the Chicago fruit juice company with using low-cost, inferior ingredients in a product falsely labeled as pure unsweetened frozen concentrated orange juice.

Anton Valukas, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, calls the case "the largest consumer fraud indictment in FDA's history." ...
