* Because he is an American, John Walker Lindh avoided the fate of other Taliban and Al Qaeda captives. At press time, U.S. military personnel had sent 158 Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters to the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. There, U.S. soldiers built a prison camp called Camp X-ray for the "detainees," as the U.S. government is calling the prisoners.
