The Bangladeshi Embassy is faced with an increasing number of women smuggled into the Emirate from Dhaka by unethical agents. Most of the women arrive in a state of desperation, ready to work as housemaids, even though the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh has banned it, according to Gulf News. The Ministry issued the ban in 1998 in order to protect women and prevent them from falling into the hands of hard employers who might subject them to physical and mental abuse.
