Sexual Dysfunctions in Men Among men, sexual dysfunction is often associated with anxiety resulting from the misconception that all sexual activity must lead to intercourse, ejaculation, and orgasm by the partner. If this expectation is not met, the sexual act is considered a failure. Since the sexual response cycle is not under voluntary control, people with this self-imposed expectation are particularly vulnerable to anxieties and a self-fulfilling prophecy of failure.
