PLANNED EUROPEAN Union (EU) legislation for the registering of herbal medicines could benefit contract manufacturers because of a requirement that herbal remedies be made according to current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards.
At present, a large proportion of the several thousand EU suppliers of herbal medicinal products do not own or have access to cGMP capacity.
Consequently, many of them could be forced to invest in new equipment or outsource the manufacturing of their products if they are to take full advantage of the new legislation.
The regulations could provide significantly more business to European contract manufacturers ...
