Feb. 22--WILKES-BARRE, Pa.--Major road construction and improvement projects in Northeastern Pennsylvania will be delayed as a result of PennDOT's out-of-court settlement with Louis and Dominick DeNaples.
The state's transportation department agreed in November 2001 to pay $26 million plus $16 million in interest to settle 34 suits filed by the DeNaples brothers. Most of the settlement is for a right-of-way along a 100-acre parcel of land used in the construction of the Casey Highway in Lackawanna County.
