Reed Elsevier said good-bye once again to the Cahners name last week, replacing it with new corporate moniker Reed Business Information (RBI), in a move aimed at bringing all RE business information properties in the U.S., Europe and Asia under one heading.
In 1997 Reed Elsevier (http://www.reedelsevier.com) temporarily eliminated the name of its Cahners Publishing unit (acquired in 1987), giving it a similar namesake straight from corporate headquarters--Reed Elsevier Business Information (REBI)--that almost squandered the brand equity late company founder Norman Cahners had worked so hard to create.
