Feb. 25--The developer of a 9\'14-acre housing project at the end of Wendover Street in the Santa Clara area will be fined for cutting more trees than allowed by the county's tree preservation ordinance, city land management supervisor Mike McKerrow said Friday.
The amount of the fine hasn't been calculated but it will be based on the value of the trees felled for the 35-lot development, McKerrow said.
In the meantime, the city will allow the developer, the Huling family of Eugene, to begin chipping trees that were cut and stacked on the property last week.
